The 2011 Thomas and Elizabeth Anderson Scholarship has been awarded to Mr. R. Logan Parker, a junior mechanical engineer student. The Anderson Scholarship was established in 2004 by the generous donation of the late Professor Thomas P. Anderson's family for Mechanical Engineering at SIUE. This is the seventh year the Anderson Scholarship has been granted to a junior or senior who displays outstanding academic achievement in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The scholarship is under the guidance of the SIUE Mechanical Engineering faculty. This year, the scholarship pays $1,500 towards the tuition of the recipient.
The faculty picked Logan because of his outstanding academic performance. Logan began his college career at SIUE to pursue mechanical engineering in the fall of 2008. Logan maintained a remarkable GPA, which placed him on the Dean's List every semester. Over the past two summers he did his internship at Southwire Cable Factory in Flora, Illinois. Logan is a member of Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, where he is currently the treasure of the SIUE Chapter. He is also an active member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
Logan comes to SIUE from Cisne High School in Illinois. He is the youngest of the three children of Richard and Peggy Parker. His older brother, Lloyd L., is a diesel mechanic for John Deer, and his sister, Lindsey, is a registered nurse at Horizon Healthcare. In Logan's free time he enjoys being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and partaking in model rocketry.
