Gregory Jacobs Recieves Outstanding GA Award

In the Fall semester of 2013, the SIUE School of Engineering came to a conclusion that instituting an engineering-specific physics course was paramount to the success of its students.  Upon this decision, the development of Engineering Physics ME192 was underway for the Spring 2014 semester. While the construction of a new course from scratch is no small feat, when a laboratory is attached to the course, the development takes on a new level of difficulty.  Outside of finding qualified instructors to lead the courses, a great deal of additional organization and effort must be invested in order to get a course of this magnitude up and running.  I was fortunate and honored when the School of Engineering approached me with the offer of instructing the laboratory section of this newly implemented engineering physics course. Shortly following the acceptance of the G.A. position for ME192L, I began the construction of the laboratory.  This involved combining multiple aspects that make up a laboratory into one coherent course intended to illuminate the most valuable aspects of introductory physics for an engineering student.
