Dr. Jenna Gorlewicz, along with collaborators in the Department of Computer Science and the SIUE Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Research, Education, and Outreach, have been awarded an Excellence in Undergraduate Education Grant Award for the 2014-2015 academic year. Their proposal titled, "Experiential Learning in Engineering Communication" will pilot a new, innovative 2-semester program for undergraduate engineering students to enhance their technical communication and presentation skills. Participants in the program will receive extensive training and practice through in-person workshops, online modules, and project presentations given to a variety of audiences including local K-12 students and engineering industry professionals. Students will also be mentored by engineering faculty and STEM Center staff throughout the program. This new program will help better prepare SIUE's engineering students for the competitive, highly interdisciplinary, and global nature of the engineering profession, while also including a critical outreach and recruitment component for SIUE Engineering.
