Faculty Profiles

Ryan Fries "I chose to work in the SIUE School of Engineering because of the people. Every day I come to work surrounded by those who share my dedication to teaching, my motivation for research and an honest enthusiasm for collaboration. It is great to work in a place where teaching excellence is highly valued, because that is what future engineers need and our students deserve. The SIUE School of Engineering also promotes the right mix of research to ensure its faculty stay current and continue to advance the field of engineering through cutting-edge studies. Faculty embrace the true spirit of teamwork and collaboration. The senior faculty members take stock in not only mentoring students, but also mentoring the newer professors to ensure the School continues to be a great place to work and learn. Overall, the SIUE School of Engineering is a great fit for me and a choice I would make again."
Ryan Fries, Ph.D., P.E.
Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering

"Although SIUE is a very well rounded University, the priority is our students. Faculty members place great emphasis on teaching and learning. Like larger Universities, students can choose from a great variety of degree programs while still getting personal attention from their teachers and a great value for their tuition. The Saint Louis Metro Area provides great opportunities to involve local industry in our teaching and projects, and provides a diverse student population. The Administration is accessible and is concerned with faculty performance and happiness.
Anne Werner, Ph.D., P.E.
