According to an estimate by the National Science Foundation, the shortage of engineers in the U.S. is nearing 70,000. Your SIUE education will prepare you to meet today's challenges with creativity and innovation.

The SIUE School of Engineering has graduated more than 4,500 engineering professionals. More than 60 percent of the graduates work in the St. Louis Metro area. Read about our alumni.

Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam

The fundamentals of engineering (FE) exam is a nationally administered test taken by seniors in various engineering majors, but mostly by civil engineers due to the nature of their career functions in the industry. SIUE civil engineering students have regularly outperformed the national comparator group rates for many years. In 2008, SIUE seniors achieved a 95 percent pass rate while the national overall pass rate was 70 percent.

The SIUE student chapter of Chi Epsilon organizes an FE exam review. Please contact the Department of Civil Engineering for more details.

FE Exam registration is to be completed online. Application services are provided by Continental Testing Services, for the Illinois Division of Professional Regulation. The test title is 061-Engineer Intern.
