Current Research Projects:

1) The development of a computer vision system for the automatic diagnosis of skin tumors. This project has been funded by the National Institute of Health, SIUE, and Stoecker and Associates.

2) The development of a computer vision and image processing research and educational tool, CVIPtools. This has been funded by SIUE, the National Institute of Health, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force, System Dynamics International, and Camber Corporation.

3) Research and development for the analysis of veterinary thermographic images for establishing norms.

4) The development of an Automatic Image Algorithm Development Tool, funded by SIUE through FUR, SRF

5) Research and development for the analysis of veterinary thermographic images for clinical diagnosis

Previous Research Projects:

4) Research into image enhancement techniques for the deblurring of high speed helicopter images, funded by SIUE, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force, System Dynamics International, and Camber Corporation.

5) Analysis of thermal image data for the modeling of temperature gradients in various materials, funded by SIUE.

6) Development of image enhancement techniques for videotaped images of art museum displays, funded by SIUE.

7) Development of Wavelet/Vector Quantization (WVQ) image compression algorithms. Exploration of adaptive basis functions for radar signal characterization and target identification, funded by the U.S. Army and SIUE.

8) Research and development of frequency domain image restoration filters. Empirical optimization approaches, funded by SIUE.

9) Research and development of algorithms for the automatic inspection of microdisplay devices, funded by Westar corporation.

10) Research and development for enhancement of the School of Engineering Robot, funded by the School of Engineering. Projects include: automatic face recognition, navigation, artificial intelligence applications.

11) Research and development for automatic analysis of stacked lumber images, funded by River City Software, Portsmith NH, "Lumber Bundle Analysis - Computer Vision Research"
