Job Description
Globalization of the SIUE campus is a major imperative of SIUE and its new Chancellor.  The University is seeking an engaging and visionary leader who has the necessary interpersonal skills to develop international programming and improve campus support for international students as an important component of its strategic planning - New Reality Project.  The Director of International Programs will lead the Center for International Programs in policy making and programming of global educational initiatives into a new era of commitment and international engagement.  This visionary and innovative leader must have an appreciation and understanding of changing trends, international challenges, and experience in international education.  The Director of International Programs is charged with promoting the University’s commitment to excellence in establishing, developing, and successfully launching new international opportunities and initiatives. 

Doctoral degree preferred with a minimum of five-year experience in international educational programs or related field.  Candidate with a master’s degree should have a minimum of ten years of progressive experience culminating in a senior level position in international programs. 

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Experience to work with and motivate partners and stakeholders for international educational programs on and off campus. 
  • Knowledge of domestic and international education policy issues, immigration policies and practices, visa issues, and other federal compliance issues that present challenges for international education, study abroad and faculty exchange programs. 
  • Experience in:
    • Directing and managing international educational exchanges and programs
    • Planning, managing and overseeing resources and programs, including budgets and grants, cooperative agreements and contracts for international educational programs and initiatives.
    • Using technology to execute communication and awareness of international initiatives for domestic or international students.
    • Working with the U.S. higher education sector and other stakeholders, including private sector partners, on international educational exchanges and programs related to study abroad by domestic students and/or study in the U.S. by foreign citizens.
    • Supervising a staff and managing an annual budget.
    • Strong track record of building international partnerships that foster an appreciation for an international campus.

Terms of Appointment
Administrative Staff, non-bargaining, 12-months continuing, July 1 through June 30, 100%.
