This position provides individual, group, and crisis counseling to students of the university. S/he performs psychological assessments to assist in diagnostic differentiation and proper treatment planning for students. The Staff Psychologist coordinates and initiates the necessary assessment batteries to appropriately evaluate students. S/he provides input to Counseling Services staff and psychiatric staff during case disposition and case conference as well as consult on cases of severe mental disorders and dual diagnosis with Counseling Services staff and other members of Student Affairs. This position provides recommendations to the Director on the psychological components of complicated student issues. S/he supervises a graduate practicum level counselor. This position develops and provides psychoeducational outreach to the campus community to promote mental health awareness and a healthier campus and surrounding community. S/he makes recommendations to community based on heath professionals regarding the clinical needs of students (e.g., hospitalization and psychological or psychiatric follow-up). The Psychologist develops relationships throughout the University in order to foster collaboration and collegiality.
