HIRING UNIT: SCHOOL OF PHARMACY
TITLE/RANK: Chair, Pharmacy Practice
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The successful candidate will be responsible for the activities of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, which includes fostering relationships between the pharmacy community and the School of Pharmacy to provide practice opportunities for faculty and professional experiences for students, provide oversight of the Office of Experiential Education, serve as mentor to practice faculty to encourage excellence in teaching and service and the development of multidisciplinary research activities. This position reports to the Dean, will serve as a member of the Dean's Advisory Committee and is expected to represent the school to both internal and external constituencies. This person will maintain an active teaching and scholarship program commensurate with the overall duties and responsibilities of this position.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Fiscal, tenure and rank negotiable, beginning July 1, 2013 (negotiable), 100%

SALARY RANGE: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Candidates should have an earned doctorate or equivalent in an appropriate discipline and a record of teaching and scholarly accomplishment commensurate with a tenured appointment in the School of Pharmacy. Eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Illinois is preferred. All candidates should have an understanding of current pharmacy education and practice. Candidates should also have: a dedication to excellence in pharmacy education, scholarship and teaching, an interest in interdisciplinary initiatives with the SIUE Schools of Dental Medicine and Nursing, and the SIU School of Medicine, a commitment to equal employment opportunity and to the value of intellectual and cultural diversity, a leadership style that emphasizes openness, consultation, and shared governance; and dedication to seeking a balance between the scholarship of teaching and research and creative activities as criteria for distribution of rewards and benefits.
