School of Nursing (SIU Carbondale)
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the academic advisor for all undergraduate and pre nursing students for the SIUE School of Nursing at Carbondale. The Academic Advisor is responsible for continuous, conscientious file management, academic advising, and registration of all declared students attempting courses in the School of Nursing. This position maintains summary data on inquiries, prospective students, applicants, admitted students, enrolled students and inactive students for purposes of keeping the Director and Dean fully informed of Nursing enrollment. The Advisor assists with recruitment of students and provides feedback in the preparation of the annual recruitment plan for the School of Nursing. This position works closely with the Director of Regional Programs to ensure proper workflow and performs tasks as assigned. S/he provides input for the annual School of Nursing Open House and dedication to the profession. The Academic Advisor organizes and implements the School of Nursing convocation celebration including securing student awards.
A Bachelor’s degree, preferable in a field with experience in admissions, advisement and/or counseling is required. Knowledge of computer record keeping skills is essential to this position. The successful candidate should have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and administration. A demonstrated ability to perform duties of the position is required.
Terms of Appointment
12 month, 100% full-time appointment
