Position Title
Specialist – Instructional Design and Technologist (2 Positions)

Job Description
This position consults with faculty members on instructional design projects, with particular focus on the development of online and hybrid learning activities, including online/hybrid courses and programs. 

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in designing, coordinating, and delivering faculty, staff and student training workshops and programs
  • Guiding users of learning management systems and related learning technologies
  • Coordinating events with other campus groups, such as the Faculty Development Council, the Office of Assessment, Educational Outreach, and the Graduate School
  • Collaborating with faculty and other IDs to research and implement instructional design strategies within curricula.
  • Researching current trends in online learning and educational technologies, establishes their pedagogical applications, and consults with faculty members on their introduction into their curriculum
  • Representing ITS and SIUE in regional, sate, and national conferences and organizations
  • Assisting in developing policies for online/hybrid courses and programs and helping to establish evaluation procedures, and implement continuous improvement
  • Consults to ensure all online/hybrid and technology enhanced courses meet all applicable standards and regulations

Years of experience may be concurrent.

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field
  • 1-3 years’ experience with instructional design & online/hybrid learning strategies and implementation, preferably in Higher Ed
  • 1-3 years’ experience with academic technologies and their application
  • 1-3 years’ experience supporting LMSs, preferably Blackboard
  • 1-3 years’ experience training, preferably in Higher Ed
  • 1-3 years’ professional experience using WIN & MAC OSs and Microsoft Office products
  • Must be able to handle numerous projects concurrently & meet appropriate deadlines
  • Experience in collaborative atmosphere, excellent brain-storming capabilities, detail-oriented, & the ability to accept constructive criticism
  • Must be self-motivated and flexible in accepting duties and instruction
  • Experience with Internet browsers, web page design concepts, multimedia design skills, digital video and audio, and other relevant tech
  • Ability to learn complex new technologies quickly and independently
  • Ability to explain complex ideas and technologies to non-technical people in a clear and understandable manner
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a variety of settings with people with a wide range of knowledge, skills & experience
  • Must have excellent time management skills

Terms of Appointment
Professional staff, non-bargaining; continuing, 100% 

Source of Funds

$52,218 per year with an excellent benefits package.
