POSITION TITLE: CHIEF INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER

HIRING UNIT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICE

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position leads the development and support of Information Privacy & Security and policy for the University, including security-focused guidance of the enterprise IT architecture, policy development and revision, collaboration with internal and external agencies on information security incidents, coordination of the Information Security team, and coordination of information privacy and security-related activities conducted by other University departments. This position is responsible for designing, conducting, and leading objective information technology audits of complex information technology systems and processes. Audit results and recommendations will be communicated to a wide variety of stakeholders including the Board of Trustees, Chancellor, President, and information technology and business leaders and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or achieve professional certification within three years of employment. Relevant industry experience, aptitude, and the ability to learn while applying knowledge and skill -sets is important. At least 5 years of progressive experience in information security which could include network/security management. Expert-level knowledge of information technology and information security terminology, concepts, standards, and best practices. Demonstration of creativity, innovation and persistence. Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal and consultative skills. Core consulting skills such as business writing, presenting, and analytic comparisons. Ability to communicate technical concepts, both verbal and written.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Professional staff, non-bargaining, continuing, 12 months, 100%

SOURCE OF FUNDS: State

SALARY RANGE: $67,505 to $75,000 annually
