Job Description/Responsibilities
This position administers patient care with a high degree of skill, as prescribed by a provider/physician.  The Staff Nurse II assists providers/physicians in the examination, procedure, and treatment of patients.  This includes documentation of presenting sign/symptoms of illness or injury, vital signs, current medications, and pertinent history.  This individual administers immunizations and injections in accordance with the orders of provider/physician and guidelines of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.  The Staff Nurse II demonstrates understanding of the requirements of the Illinois state immunization mandates and is able to review the student immunization record for compliance.  This position provides documentation of medical services accurately and completely in the student’s electronic medical record.  This includes visit notes, procedures/treatments performed, as well as telephone medical advice, and other non-visit interactions.  The Staff Nurse II may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation. 
  2. One year of nursing experience comparable to that gained as a Staff Nurse I

Additional Skills and Knowledge Preferred

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  2. One to three years of professional nursing experience in an acute care setting
  3. One to three years of professional nursing experience in an ambulatory setting
  4. Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation/Automatic Electronic Defibrillation certification
  5. Current Blood Borne Pathogen training

Illinois residency required

FLSA Status

$21.00 per hour
