This position provides accurate, current curricular information including program major and minor requirements, transfer-credit evaluation, admission, probation, suspension, commencement eligibility, and graduation checks. The advisor assists in short-term and long-term academic program planning and support, assists in maintaining curriculum guides, serves as a referral to others and agencies, and provides counsel with regard to program changes and career plans. This position assists in recruitment and retention; maintains and manages appropriate records; and performs other related duties as assigned. The job responsibilities of this position may necessitate evening and occasional weekend assignments.
A Master’s Degree in higher education or related field is required. Experience in academic advisement, and/or other relevant areas of student personnel services is/are also required. Experience working in higher education is recommended. Experience with a computerized student information system (Banner, PeopleSoft, Datatel, SIS, etc.) is preferred. Ideal candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; organization and planning skills.
