Office Support Specialist
Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Office Support Specialist assists the department chair for Electrical and Computer Engineering with drafting course schedules, coordinating the scheduling of classrooms, keeping track of department and grant budgets, making purchases needed for the department and faculty, preparing paperwork for program and course changes, collecting and summarizing course evaluation forms, collecting and compiling activity reports and career surveys. This position reviews and corrects documents related to faculty load reports and payroll certification, assists in reviewing students’ probation and retention status, signs fiscal documents as directed and assists with assessment data collection and accreditation visit preparation tasks as assigned. S/he assists the department chair with the typing/printing of letters and memos related to department business, helps with updates to the department web content as needed, assists the graduate program director in notifying graduate applicants about their admission status, prepares contracts for faculty, call staff and graduate assistants as needed, and assists the department faculty with travel reimbursements tasks. The Office Support Specialist may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department’s mission and goals.
Additional Knowledge and Skills Preferred
This position must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, e-mail, and Banner software. Applicants must be able to function independently with minimum supervision and be dependable in maintaining confidentiality.
Illinois residency required
$2,278 per month
