Job Description/Responsibilities
This position provides the necessary admin support to the Assistant Dean and staff of the Office of Dental Information Technology at the SDM.  This position will participate in researching, budgeting, configuring, deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and auditing new and existing technologies at the SDM.  S/he will train, faculty, staff, and students in the use of basic office suite technologies.  This position will assist the Assistant Dean and ODIT staff in the research, planning, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of new information technology projects.  This position will have primary responsibility for triage of incoming IT support call requests.  This position will also have responsibility for user account set up and password entry for all users in a HIPAA compliant clinical information system.  The Office Support Specialist may be assigned additional related duties and responsibilities in support of the department’s mission and goals

Minimum Qualifications
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Twelve (12) months of clerical/office support work experience.
3. Any one or combination totaling twenty-four (24) months from the
    following categories:
    (a) work experience performing clerical/office support work
    (b) vocational training that provided a knowledge of generally accepted
         clerical procedures
    (c) college or university course work in Office Occupations, Business Administration,
         Business Education, or closely related fields 36 semester hours = twenty-four
         (24) months
    (d) college or university course work in any curriculum 60 semester hours =
         twenty-four (24) months  
4. Ability to keyboard accurately at a rate of 40 net w.p.m.                              

Additional Skills and Knowledge Preferred by Hiring Unit
This position requires extensive knowledge of secretarial, grammatical, communication, and advanced computer operator skills.  Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is essential to this position. High level organizational abilities, accuracy, efficiency and considerable tact are required in addition to the requisite knowledge and skills. A working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, and Blackboard are preferred.

$2,278 per month
