Job Description/Responsibilities
The Department of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor of Art Therapy Counseling. The Assistant Professor will teach graduate level art therapy courses in the Art Therapy Counseling Program. The successful candidate will be an active participant in the department, with responsibilities that include: teaching, advising and directing master’s research projects; contributing to the program and SIUE through administrative duties and participation in interdisciplinary committees; and ongoing engagement in scholarly, creative and professional activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree, registration and board certification (ATR-BC) as an art therapist required; doctoral degree preferred. Illinois and/or Missouri counseling license or eligibility for such licenses required. Minimum of five years of clinical experience and additional graduate level teaching experience beyond teaching assistantship required. A history of scholarly publications and studio experience preferred.

The ideal candidate will have: a strong interest in art therapy research, critical theories of difference and contemporary art theory/practice, as evidenced by research, scholarly writing and/or clinical practice; a demonstrated interest in emerging forms of contemporary, culturally relevant art therapy education. Terms of Appointment
Full-time, tenure track, academic year (nine-month) appointment beginning August 15, 2018.
