TITLE/RANK: DIRECTOR BUSINESS AFFAIRS

HIRING UNIT: COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES - DEAN'S OFFICE

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Director of Business Affairs directs and supervises the operation of the accounting system and manages the budget for the College of Arts and Sciences. She/he develops and monitors the annual budget for all personnel funds within the College and directs the accounting for expenditure of all personnel funds and reports to the Dean, conducts the mid-year reappraisal for all CAS accounts, monitors the budgets and academic assignments for the departments, and conducts annual academic and summer budget meetings with each department and unit to create the class schedules and budgets. This position coordinates the hiring process with the departments for faculty and staff, is responsible for allocating and tracking all office and lab space in the College, and calculates and administers the merit, equity, and market-movement salary increases for the Dean's Office and the departments. She/he has supervisory responsibility for the College Copy Center, administers the purchasing and leasing of office computers for all faculty and staff in the College, evaluates the instructional equipment requests from the departments and allocates equipment funding. The Director of Business Affairs administers funding for major research and teaching equipment, creates short and long-range budget analysis for the Dean, works with the Dean to manage the physical assets of the college, and coordinates GIRs and any capital improvement requests.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: The successful candidate must possess a Master's Degree in Business, preferably in Accounting; plus five years of experience in computational, financial or planning positions. Applicant must possess the ability to use PC and/or mainframe applications and tools to produce analytical reports. Must have strong management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, Oracle experience is preferred.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Professional staff, non-bargaining, 12-month continuing, 100%.

SALARY RANGE: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
