Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Job Description
The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach reports to the Head Strength, Conditioning, and Training Coach, Associate AD/SWA, and the Director of Athletics and must subscribe to the SIUE Principles Governing Athletics.  Specific duties include:

  • Assisting with organization, administration, and development of effective conditioning programs for each sport
  • Working with student-athletes individually to provide regular assessments and monitoring of conditioning activity
  • Assisting in the operation, supervision, maintenance, and overall safety of the athletics department conditioning facilities
  • Assisting in communicating with coaches, student-athletes, and trainers as to sport needs, goals, student-athlete compliance/attendance, and medical limitations
  • Responsibility for advising the strength, conditioning, and training coach and the Associate AD on equipment needs, safety concerns, and overall operations.
  • Supporting the student-athlete concept and demonstrating concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Complying with University, Conference and NCAA Division I rules and regulations 

Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred).  Certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist also required.  Current CPR for Professional Rescuer/Basic Life Support Certification required.  Evidence of strong organizational skills, communication skills and computer skills.  Certification by the National Athletic Trainer Association Board of Certification or additional skill sets will be given favorable consideration. 

Terms of Appointment
Administrative, non-bargaining, 12-month term with possibility of renewal.
