TITLE/RANK: ASSISTANT SOFTBALL COACH (2 POSITIONS)
HIRING UNIT: INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position reports directly to the Head Coach and Director of Athletics, subscribes to the SIUE Principles Governing Athletics, and supports the goals and objectives of the athletic program. This position assists the Head Coach with the organization of practices, recruitment, team travel, fund raising, and any other area of responsibility as directed by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics. This individual complies with the University, Conference, and NCAA Division I rules and regulations. This position works cooperatively and responsibly with other departmental personnel. The Assistant Coach supports the student-athlete concept and demonstrates concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete. This position performs other related duties as assigned in support of the department's mission and goals.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Non-bargaining; term; June 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 with possibility of renewal based on availability of funds; 100%.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: Local
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A Bachelor's degree is required (master's preferred). Evidence of sound organizational skills is essential. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public is necessary. Four years' collegiate playing experience is preferred. Two years' coaching experience at Division I level is preferred. Applicants must comply with University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
