Office of Admissions
The Admission Counselor will inform prospective students and their families of educational opportunities available to them at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville by: advising and counseling prospective students and their families; interacting with counselors, faculty and administrators; making public presentations; representing the University at college day/night programs at high schools, colleges, and college fairs; and assuming responsibility for and assisting with special projects. The role of the Admission Counselor is to serve both prospective students and the University community. Outreach efforts are focused on increasing enrollment by attracting academically strong students from diverse backgrounds who value citizenship and integrity. The Admission Counselor may be assigned additional tasks in support of the department’s mission and goals.
Bachelor’s degree and recommend two years of experience in a college or university setting in admissions, counseling, communication, and/or public relations. Excellent verbal, written communication and technical skills are essential. Candidate must have good organization skills and the ability to communicate with individuals from varying backgrounds.
Terms of Appointment
Full-time, bargaining position.
Source of Funds
$27,000 to $28,000 per year.
