Job Description/Responsibilities
Under supervision, this position assists in verification and documentation procedures in the Quality Assurance Unit.   

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing financial aid applicant data and related documentation, resolving differences, updating and revising financial aid application data in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Assisting in automated procedures required to track, document and verify applicant data
  • Composing correspondence to students/parents, responsible for requesting additional, appropriate documentation 
  • Code data, using knowledge of complex computer system; assist with EDE correction processes impacting Pell Grant and MAP Grant eligibility 
  • Assisting in developing and modifying forms used in the QA Unit
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and or director

This position may be assigned other related tasks in support of the department’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school graduation or equivalent
  2. Any one or any combination of the following types of preparation:
    (a) Work experience performing clerical/secretarial work, including use of computer  systems
    (b) College or university coursework in Office Occupations, Business Administration Business Education or closely related fields
    (c) Vocational training which provided knowledge of generally accepted clerical procedures comparable to that gained in “b” above
    (d)  College or university coursework in any curriculum
           that totals 1.0 unit according to the following conversion rates:
                 18 months of “a”
                 24 semester hours of “b”
                 12 months of “c”
                 48 semester hours of “d”
  3. Ability to keyboard accurately at a rate of 25 w.p.m. 

Additional Knowledge and Skills Requested by Hiring Unit

  • General financial aid program information and regulations
  • Specific knowledge of verifications and documentation procedures must be learned
  • Knowledge of office policies and procedures under which the above policies are applied
  • Knowledge of student information storage and retrieval systems
  • Knowledge of mainframe applications
  • Must be aware of university policies pertaining to the Privacy Act and student records
  • Good customer service skills are a requirement

Illinois residency required 


$1,868 per month
