What
is Teaching with Primary Sources at SIUE?
Teaching
with Primary Sources at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville offers
professional development to local K-12 educators in using the vast digital
collections from the Library of Congress Web site. The national TPS
program builds on the success of the Library of Congress' previous outreach
initiatives, particularly the American Memory Fellows and An Adventure
of the American Mind programs, which reached more than 10,000 teachers
nationally.

national Teaching with Primary Sources
Web site, http://www.loc.gov/teachers/tps/.
I
am very excited to implement my lesson and further use the Library of
Congress Web site...I would love to come back and peruse another topic.
This challenges me to really consider all aspects and depth of a lesson
[plan]. I enjoy the opportunity to do that.
-SIUE TPS Teacher June 2009
I am excited to implement my lessons with students this school year.
I have found many other sources [from the Library of Congress] that
fit our curriculum that I will also be using. This has been one of the
most valuable classes in all of my graduate studies! You have energized
my desire to teach. Your class...helped me realize the importance of
inquiry based learning. The students' desire to be active participants
will rise along with my desire to improve the way I teach!
