| + Students may choose to begin their graduate studies the summer prior to the first fall. Students may begin taking electives during their summer session. * Students must complete 2 hours of electives within area of specialization or in related areas. These courses are special topics courses (SPPA 515) and vary from summer to summer. When offered, elective courses also may include SPPA 551: Orofacial Anomalies, SPPA 540: Early Intervention, SPPA 555: Acquired Brain Injury, and SPPA 511: Counseling Families. ** Students must pass the Test of Academic Proficiency within the first two semesters of graduate academic coursework. Students must pass the Content Area Test prior to the spring semester of their 2nd year of graduate academic coursework. Students are expected to complete at least three semesters of practicum in the SIUE Speech-Language-Hearing Center. Students are also expected to complete a diagnostic practicum and a course in Clinical Procedures for Individuals with Hearing Disorders located in the Audiology Clinic. Off-campus practicum opportunities are required during the second year. |
