Admissions Requirements

A complete Psychology graduate application file contains the following:

  • Psychology application form
  • Goal Statement/Statement of Purpose (500 words maximum) Following your goal statement, please attach your resumé.
  • three letters of recommendation, preferably from professors who can discuss your academic performance
  • assistantship application (if desired)
  • official GRE scores. The General Test is required and the Psychology Subject Test is optional
  • Graduate School application — this is separate from the Psychology application form. A copy of the Graduate School Application is sent from Graduate Admissions to the Psychology Department after processing.
  • official transcript
  • Course Prerequisites — Introductory Psychology, Statistics (psychology statistics), Experimental Psychology/Research Methods (a course about data collection, analysis, and reporting), Psychological Tests and Measurements, and Introduction to Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

 
Exit Requirements

The Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology requires the completion of a thesis, 200 hours of practicum, and 42 semester hours of graduate credit. All but 6 of these hours are filled through core and required courses.

 
Application Deadline

The deadline for application for each fall semester is February 1. New students are admitted only in the fall, and all application materials must be submitted by this deadline.

Early application is encouraged. The first review of completed folders for admission is conducted in January. The selection committee will continue regularly to review completed folders until available positions in each program concentration are filled.
