Admissions Requirements

Please see the application information page for details about the following. A complete psychology graduate application file contains:

  • Psychology application form
  • Goal Statement/Statement of Purpose (500 words maximum). Following your goal statement, please attach your resumé.
  • three letters of recommendation, preferably from from professors who can discuss academic performance
  • assistantship application (if desired)
  • official GRE scores. The General Test is required and the Psychology Subject Test is optional
  • Graduate School application. This is separate from the Psychology application form.
  • official transcripts
     

Course Prerequisites

  • Introductory Psychology
  • Statistics (psychology statistics)
  • Experimental Psychology/Research Methods (a course about data collection, analysis, and reporting)
  • Psychological Tests and Measurements
  • Theories of Personality
  • Abnormal Psychology
  • Physiological Psychology

 
Exit Requirements

Students in the Clinical-Adult specialization must complete a thesis demonstrating skill in formulating a research problem, collecting data and interpreting results.

 
Application Deadline

The deadline for application for each fall semester is February 1. New students are admitted only in the fall. All application materials must be submitted by this deadline.

Early application is encouraged. The first review of completed folders for admission will be done in January. The Graduate Selection Committee will continue regularly to review completed folders until available positions in each program concentration are filled.
