
![]() | Adapted Physical Education Clinic The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education offers a free, inclusive, physical activity lab (P.A.L.) for children of all abilities. The purpose of this program is to provide children in the community an opportunity to interact and improve motor skills and fitness through physical activity. Kinesiology students in the Physical Education Teacher Education program plan and lead the activities under the supervision of a nationally certified adapted physical educator and graduate students in kinesiology. ![]() | Adapted Physical Education Practicum (Bike Camp) The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education offers a week-long bike camp for children with disabilities. The purpose of this program is two-fold; (1) Through the use of a graduated series of adapted bicycles, children learn how to ride conventional two-wheel bicycles, and (2) Kinesiology students are provided with an invaluable and rewarding practicum experience teaching children with disabilities a lifelong recreational skill. ![]() | Attention and Behavior Clinic Located in the Department of Psychology, the Attention and Behavior Clinic is designed to provide comprehensive ADHD assessments to children and adolescents in addition to brief consultation to parents and schools for management of inattentive, hyperactive and disruptive childhood behavior. ![]() | Speech-Language-Hearing Center The Center provides diagnostic and treatment services each semester for more than 100 individuals who present with a variety of communication problems. The Center also sponsors a group treatment program for individuals with aphasia. Students in Speech-language Pathology begin their practicum experiences in the Center as seniors during undergraduate study. As graduate students, they participate in audiology clinic, diagnostic clinic and pediatric and adult clinics in the Center. All clinical activity is supervised and mentored by certified speech-language pathologists. |
![]() | Weight Management Clinic The purpose of the weight management program is to help members of the SIUE and Metro East communities improve their health by learning and applying the skills necessary to lose a modest amount of weight (5-10%), or at minimum, prevent further weight gain. The 6-Month program is conducted by faculty from the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education and is based upon the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Clinical Guidelines on the Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults.
