09.18.09 - First-Year Faculty Tech Workshop
Please mark your calendars for Friday, Sept 18, 9:00-10:30 am for a tech workshop with Binod Pokhrel. He’ll go over some of the basics to help new faculty deal with the tech equipment available in the SOE. We will meet in Founders Hall 1407 which is down the hall across from the C&I office. No need to rsvp—there’s room for everybody and I always have enough bagels! Contact Bill Searcy for more information.
09.18.09 - TWIL Peer Mentoring Program Meeting
“Thinking, Writing, Inquiring, and Learning (TWIL): A Peer Mentoring Program from Non-Tenured Faculty. This introductory session will give an overview of the TWIL mission and goals. It will be a faculty participatory meeting facilitated by Fran Karanovich and Ralph Cordova seeking information and input from interested non-tenured faculty members about future teacher informational meeting and interest in forming professional writing circles to increase scholarly writing productivity.
Participants are invited to bring their lunch to the meeting which will be held in Founders Hall 0308 from 11:00-1:00 p.m.
While TWIL targets non-tenured faculty, all faculty are invited to attend, especially recently tenured faculty or those aspiring to full professorship.
09.23.09 – Academy of Fellow’s Reception with the Chancellor
An informal “town hall” meeting with Chancellor Vaughn Vandegrift and the Academy of Fellow’s. The Chancellor will give an update on the university and answer questions from members of the Academy of Fellows.For more information please contact Christi Donsbach

10.15.09 Early Childhood Reception
The SIUE Early Childhood Program in conjunction with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, and the School of Education is hosting a reception for Early Childhood Alumni and the larger early childhood community on October 15, 2009. The reception will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the University Restaurant at the Morris University Center.
Our special guest is Nancy Carlsson-Paige, author of Taking Back Childhood. She will discuss elements critical to all children’s healthy development:time and space for creative play, a feeling of security in today’s often frightening world, and strong, meaningful relationships with both adults and other children.
