Elective Suggestions for Public Health Majors

The following suggestions are designed to allow students to focus their elective coursework according to their interests and/or professional goals.

Health Across the Lifespan for working with specific groups of people as they make age and lifestyle changes across their lives.

Health Disparities for gaining an understanding of Health Disparities (inequities) between groups in the US and abroad.

International Health to build a foundation for students who are interested in global health issues and working with cross-cultural population groups and both international profit and non-profit organizations and government agencies.

MPH to prepare students for pursuing their Masters of Public Health (MPH), to fulfill the prerequisites in at least seven areas of the competencies. (Biostatistics,Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Health Policy and Management, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Communication and Informatics, Diversity and Culture, Leadership, and Public Health Biology)

Nursing to provide understanding of and preparation for further study in Nursing.

Nutrition for an understanding of and preparation for further study in Dietetics and Nutrition.

Sexual Health for those thinking about working in the area of sexuality or sexual health.
