Program in Brief
Has already:

• Expanded the Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) program to an additional 24 schools, adding approximately 6,700 new students to the program.

• Collaborated extensively with Illinois Action for Healthy Kids on school wellness policy activities.

• Created a committee to assess local school wellness policies through, among other means, an online needs-assessment survey for elementary-, middle-, and high-school principals.

• Helped the Illinois Atherosclerosis Advisory Committee develop its proposed Stop the Gain campaign.

Plans to:
• Conduct a pilot pre-K physical activity and nutrition training program for staff from one Head Start center.

• Provide a master training component for CATCH.

• Develop an additional school wellness policy survey for school-based wellness coordinators.

• Support breastfeeding education and other efforts through the Illinois State Breastfeeding Task Force and regional breastfeeding coalitions.

• Help the Interagency Nutrition Council disseminate the Fruit and Veggies – More Matters™ program to all local health departments and other partners.

• Work with the state’s cancer control program to implement the Body & Soul initiative in a Millennium Neighborhood.

• Develop a worksite wellness program for the Illinois Department of Public Health, using Active Living Every Day curriculum.

Services Include
Opportunitiy for parents to get involved, tools for reaching other parents, administrators, state policy makers, and others at a local level who can help promote healthly school meal programs.  Programs including keys to success which helps determine strengths and weaknesses and assistance for developing and implementing a successful program.

Services Included:
The Little Gym® has provided that foundation in our non-competitive motor skill development programs, such as gymnastics, sports skills and karate, all taught in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. We encourage children to develop at their own pace, building the self-esteem they need for fulfilling and successful lives.
