- Master of Science in Education — no teacher certification
The Master of Science in Education program consists of 30 semester hours beyond a bachelor’s degree. Graduate students have the option to complete the program through the established cohort model (lasting 13 months) or complete coursework on a schedule that is personally appropriate. The Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy program offers a rare experience characterized by the integration of theory and practice, a commitment to recruiting a diverse and academically talented candidate pool, and direct guidance by faculty members with expertise in respective areas within Physical Education Teacher Education. Through this program, experienced physical education teachers will have the opportunity to develop their ability to be a reflective practitioner as well as their appreciation for the connection between research and quality physical education.
Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy at SIUE
The program is delivered through distance education modalities with primary emphasis on online technologies. Courses typically involve a combination of online and face-to-face meetings that are dependent upon enrollment and educational context. Faculty members facilitate the consumption of research in Physical Education Teacher Education and its application to practice, through the use of Blackboard and discussion board participation, as well as contextually relevant reflective activities.
