Visiting Scholars

Jie Du Jie Du
Jie Du is a Professor in the College of Life Sciences at Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China. He received his doctoral degree in Biosensor and Bioanalysis. He has taught Genetics and Biopharmaceutical Analysis. His research interests include protein-based bio-affinity detection and biosensors, and functional protein and nucleic acid to help develop analytical methods. During his semester at SIUE, he hopes to experience the differences between SIUE and NWNU teaching styles, and to learn advanced techniques and methods of experiments about biotechnology from SIUE professors.


Jiong Guo Jiong Guo
Jiong Guo is a Professor in the Educational College of Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China. She has taught Online Curriculum Design and Research Methods in Educational Technology. Her research interests include information technology and education. During her semester at SIUE, she hopes to fully understand curriculum and educational administration in American colleges.  She hopes to participate in online courses, as well as attending seminars in various academic activities at SIUE.



Kefang Jia Kefang Jia:
Kefang Jia is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Philosophy and Politics at Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China. He has taught a Survey of Western Philosophy, Selected Philosophical Texts in English, Critical Thinking and Informal Logic, Analytic Philosophy, Ethical Cultivation, and Law Basis.  His research interests include western early modern philosophy, philosophy of the mind, and the problem of identity. During his semester at SIUE, he looks forward to learning about philosophical education at the collegiate level, and potential cooperation in philosophical studies with SIUE professors.



Jinjun Li Jinyun Li
Jinyun Li is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China. She has taught Chinese Teaching and Learning, Textbook Compilation and Usage. Her research interests include literacy education, textbook compilation and usage, and teacher training. During her semester at SIUE, she looks forward to further collaborative research in curriculum and instruction. She hopes to learn more about literacy education and differentiated instruction in the United States.


Lianxia Li Lianxia Li
Lianxia Li is a Lecturer in the College of Humanities at Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (SUSE), China. She has taught Ancient Chinese literature, Research on Song Dynasty Poetry, and The Study of Tao Te Ching. Her research interests include ancient Chinese literature, comparative Chinese and western cultures, Chinese traditional culture and literature, and educational teaching methods. During her semester at SIUE, she hopes to experience American culture, learn American education and teaching methods, and to enhance communication and exchange experiences.

Xuefei Li Xuefei Li
Xuefei Li is a Lecturer in the College of Material and Chemical Engineering at Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (SUSE), China. She has taught Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering, Technology and Separation Process and Specialty English on Chemical Engineering. Her research interests include educational psychology, English use the classroom, and Chinese herbal medicine. During her semester at SIUE, she looks forward to improving her English, and improving her understanding of educational theory and administration. She is excited that her experiences at SIUE will help benefit her future students.

Meijiao Shan Meijiao Shan
Meijiao Shan is an Associate Professor in the School of Economics at Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China. She received her PhD in Economics from Jinan University, Guangzhau. She has taught Risk Management and Insurance, Corporate Finance, and Theory of Money and Banking. Her research interests are on regional economic development and anti-poverty strategies in developing countries. During her semester at SIUE, she looks forward to learning more about pedagogy methods and educational technology related to her professional background. She is looking forward to experiencing the differences between American and Chinese teaching styles and improving the skill of bilingual teaching.


Aiqin Sun Aiqin Sun
Aiqin Sun is an Associate Professor in the College of Education at Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China. She has taught Early Child Development and Education courses to undergraduates, and Early Child Research to post-graduates. Her research interests include early child development in rural areas, children’s culture, and early child teacher development. During her semester at SIUE, she looks forward to acquiring in-depth knowledge of modern pedagogical concepts and practices of higher education in the United States, observing education and early childhood courses at SIUE, learning how to clearly communicate in English, and to gain a broader knowledge of humanism and the ecological environment of the United States.
Yiquiang Yang Yiqiang Yang
Yiqiang Yang is a Lecturer in the School of Automation and Electronic Information at Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (SUSE), China. He has taught Power System Stability and Control, and Power System Analysis. His research interests include power system oscillations, Lyapunov stability, energy functions for power systems, and power system controller design. During his semester at SIUE, he hopes to learn the educational pedagogy of the United States, and attend lectures of his related fields of research.
Jing Wang Jing Wang
Jing Wang is a Lecturer at Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China. She has taught Chinese, HSK tutorials, Pedagogy of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Acquisition of the Second Language, and Contemporary Chinese to undergraduates, graduates, and international students. Her research interests include Pedagogy of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, and Acquisition of a Second Language. During her semester to SIUE, she looks forward to observing and attending second language courses. She wishes to learn from her experiences in professional development through peer conversation and interaction. She hopes to develop her proficiency in speaking and teaching English from the International Training in Pedagogy Program.
Xiaomei Wang Xiaomei Wang
Xiaomei Wang is a Lecturer in the College of Foreign Languages and Literature at Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China.  She has taught College English to undergraduate non-English majors. Her research interest is English Literature. During her semester at SIUE, she looks forward to improving her English, and learning about American culture. She hopes to learn advanced learning and teaching approaches from her coursework, while sharing Chinese culture and literature with the faculty and students of SIUE.
Yaohua Wang Yaohua Wang
Yaohua Wang is a Lecturer in the College of Tourism at Northwest Normal University (NWNU), China. She has taught Comprehensive English and Tourism English to undergraduates. Her research interest is on classroom behavior, interactive teaching, and cross-cultural communication. During her semester at SIUE, she hopes to compare the classroom behavior of the United States and China, gain better understanding of interactive teaching, and improve English literacy skills.
