Weijun Wang is an associate professor and the Associate Dean of School of Educational Technology at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. He is not only mainly in charge of graduates education and scientific research, but also teaches educational technology and instructional design courses. In addition, he serves as the Chairman of Teacher Education Specialty Committee of Gansu province. His research primarily emphasizes educational technology, particularly focusing on how effectively information technology can immerse students in the learning process. In the fall semester of 2013 at SIUE, he looks forward to the further collaborative research both in the fields of educational technology and instructional design, as well as getting to know more about on-line courses in the United States.
Huajun Xiong is an associate professor of higher education in School of Education at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. He has taught two undergraduate courses such as faculty development and Education philosophy, and three graduate courses such as compared higher education, university instruction, and the history of higher education. His research interest focuses on the university faculty development and higher education administration. In the fall semester of 2013 at SIUE, he looks forward to: 1. Conducting classroom observations; 2. Learning specific measures of SIUE under the training of teaching ability of the faculty, especially the junior faculty; 3. Getting more experiences in promoting the development of the faculty’s academic profession, especially the faculty evaluation system and operation mechanism; 4. Getting more experiences at SIUE in promoting the development of the graduate teaching ability, undergraduate practice ability, etc.; 5. Investigating the relation between the civic education and the organizations for children and youth.
Aiping Guan is an Associate Professor in School of Business at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. She has taught courses in Statistics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics. Her research interest includes technological change and economic growth. In the fall semester of 2013 at SIUE, she looks forward to learning more information about college pedagogy at SIUE, how to design syllabus for Econometric or Statistical Analysis taught at SIUE; How to organize students to discuss the topics, lead the students to question the teacher and the teaching material and explore answers by themselves; How to clearly communicate in English to American faculty and students; What are the similarities and differences in pedagogy between China and USA.
Lan Wang is an Associate Professor of Social Work in School of Social Development and Public Administration and the Associate Director of the northwest minorities women's center at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. Her main research fields include gender, women's social work, social policies, etc. In the fall semester of 2013 at SIUE, she looks forward to studying courses related to education and social work, hoping that the observation of teaching and scientific research will enrich her experiences. This visit is expected to be the most unforgettable memory and practice!
Honghong Chen is an Associate professor of computer science in School of Computer Science & Engineering at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. She has taught such courses as basics of computer application, web design, and web standard. Her major research interest is information services. In the fall semester of 2013 at SIUE, she looks forward to: 1. Learning and comparing the undergraduate teaching plan, teaching program, curriculum setting of nonprofessional undergraduate students in SIUE; 2. Researching and studying college pedagogy ,such as educational philosophies, teaching methodologies, and educational technologies; 3. Referencing the experience of SIUE in creating education resources, electronic school affairs and network service to provide ideas and methods for the construction in our school (NWNU); 4.Establishing friendly relationship with SIUE ITPP project team and strengthen cooperation with our institute, and know the development trends of College pedagogy; 5. Writing research reports.
Zuhua Dai is an Associate professor of computer science in School of Computer Science & Engineering at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. She has taught such courses as C programming language, C++/Java programming language, design and analysis of Computer Algorithm, as well as software engineering. Her major research interests include theory and method of enterprise information system planning & design, computation of decision-making information, social computing, computer Programming Pedagogy for beginner, case difficulty analysis and case teaching in computer science & engineering. In the fall semester of 2013 at SIUE, she looks forward to: enhancing her spoken English, learning American teaching style for engineering in SIUE, investigating curriculum construction experiences for the Computer Science in SIUE, learning advanced & available teaching methods from the project team members and establishing deep international friendship with them.
Kun Li is an Associate professor of music education in School of Music at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. She has taught such courses as piano. Her major research interest concentrates on music education, especially piano pedagogy. In the fall semester of 2013 at SIUE, she looks forward to: enriching her musical knowledge, especially in piano pedagogy field, such as getting fresh ideas, methods, and model of teaching piano; improving her English skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension, which is good for her future international collaboration in teaching and researching.
Zhihua Wang is an Associate Professor of analytical chemistry in College of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. She has taught such courses like inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and general chemistry. Her major research interests involve the preparation and application of electrochemical sensor.
