This program affords teachers the opportunity to advance to the principalship or to numerous other leadership positions in public schools.

Educational Administration at SIUE

Three programs lead to the General Administration Certification (Type 75) in Illinois and/or Initial Administrative Certification in Missouri: (1) A Master’s Degree Program; (2) A Specialists Degree Program for students who already hold a Master’s Degree, and; (3) A Certification-Only (non-degree) Program for students who already hold a Master’s degree, but do not wish to pursue an additional graduate degree. The Educational Administration programs are delivered at several off-campus locations.

Career Outlook

The General Administrative Certification (in Illinois) covers all administrative positions except Superintendent, Director of Special Education, and Chief School Business Official; this would include such positions as Assistant Principal, Principal, Director, and Assistant Superintendent. This program also meets the requirements for Missouri (Initial) Elementary and Secondary Principal Certificates.
