About Dr. Weishaar

Dr. Phillip M. Weishaar, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Special Education in the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He teaches graduate courses in special education law, special education finance, administration/supervision, and collaboration.  He teaches undergraduate and graduate assessment of students with disabilities.  Dr. Weishaar has authored and coauthored several books, articles and online modules on special education administration, multi-tiered systems of support, and international issues in special education.  Dr. Weishaar was the recipient of a Fulbright Specialist Award in 2014 to teach, consult with faculty, and conduct research on special education at Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou, China. Dr. Weishaar is a member of the Midwest PBIS Network leadership team, Illinois Alliance for Administrators of Special Education, Fulbright Association, and Council for Exceptional Children.  Dr. Weishaar’s areas of interest include multi-tiered systems of support, assessment, international issues, and administration of special education.
