• Master of Arts in Teaching

Teacher Licensure: The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is an accelerated program that leads to a master's degree, as well as initial teacher licensure for grades 6-12 in:

  • English;
  • foreign languages (Spanish, French, or German), (K-12 licensure);
  • social sciences (history);
  • mathematics;
  • sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, or Earth/space).

Why Master of Arts in Teaching?

The MAT is a field-based program in a public school setting that is integrated with course work. The program typically begins in June and is completed in 11 months. Students holding an undergraduate degree in education are not eligible for the MAT program. Students will be members of an interdisciplinary cohort and will work collaboratively within the cohort to investigate school-based problems and issues. Students will be eligible for Middle Level Endorsement for grades 6-8.
