An Adventure of the American Mind ( AAM ) is a project funded through the Library of Congress, which was awarded in Illinois through the efforts and support of US Senator Richard J. "Dick" Durbin (D-IL) in 2002 at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Carbondale.

The SIUE AAM Program will be transitioning into the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) program throughout 2007. The SIUE AAM / TPS Program works with K-12 schools and educational organizations by offering a professional development program that assist teachers in using the Library of Congress' rich reservoir of digitized primary source materials to design challenging, high quality instruction.
