At the Early Childhood Center we believe that the teaching staff is the cornerstone for implementing our philosophy. Our teaching staff creates a caring and nurturing atmosphere and fosters each child’s creativity and positive self-image.
Teachers-Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related human service area.
Assistant Teachers- Have an Associate Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Teacher Assistants /Student Workers- SIUE students who are studying Early Childhood Education or related human service area may apply to work up to 20 hours through the Student Employment web site.
Practicum Students-the School of Education Early Childhood Education program provides opportunities for students to accumulate at least 100 hours of pre-student teaching clinical experiences at the ECC.
Student Teachers-Early Childhood students intern at the ECC under the guidance of a Cooperating teacher and University supervisor, gradually assuming the role of a teacher.
