Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans

ALERT:

Beginning March 29, 2015, a new PLUS Counseling module will be added to the www.studentloans.gov website.  This counseling must be completed by all Direct PLUS Loan borrowers, who are determined to have an adverse credit history, but qualify for a Direct PLUS Loan by obtaining an endorser or by documenting extenuating circumstances.


Graduate PLUS loans are available for graduate students to help cover the Cost of Attendance. The maximum annual amount allowed for a Graduate PLUS loan is Cost of Attendance less other financial aid. Interest rate is a fixed rate of 5.84% and is charged from the time funds are disbursed to the time the loan is paid in full.

Eligibility for the Graduate PLUS loan is based on the following criteria:

  • Student submitted Free Application for Federal Student Aid available at www.fafsa.ed.gov (FAFSA)
  • Student must pass U.S. Department of Education credit check
  • Student must complete the Graduate PLUS Application, available at www.studentloans.gov

NOTE: All first-time borrowers must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Grad PLUS entrance counseling which is available at www.studentloans.gov
