We hope you enjoy reading each issue of the “The Regular Checkup,” our alumni newsletter. "The Regular Checkup" shares stories and photos of campus and community events, featuring alumni, students, faculty, and friends.
We also hope to see you soon at one of our annual alumni events. Each year, we host three signature events for our SIU SDM alumni: our Alumni Homecoming, our Midwinter Alumni Reception in Chicago and our Prophy Cup Challenge Golf Tournament. In addition, we often host alumni receptions at the Illinois State Dental Society's Annual Meeting, the American Dental Association's Annual Session and the Greater St. Louis Dental Society's Dental Congress.
Also during the year, we try to help those alumni celebrating the anniversary of their commencement from the dental school to arrange a Reunion Reception. Please feel free to let us know if we can help coordinate a reunion event for your class.
Stephen Schaus continues to serve as our Director of Development. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding the SIU dental school, he is available to serve you. He can also assist you in giving back to your Alma mater. Please feel free to contact him at 618-474-7271, or via e-mail at sschaus@siue.edu.
Additionally, Dr. Keith Dickey might also be helpful. He serves the SIU dental school as the Director of Continuing Education and Alumni Services. You may contact him at 618-474-7201, or via e-mail at kdickey@siue.edu.

The Class of 1982, the Class of 1987 and the Class of 2002 each were well represented. The Class of 1987 earned the top honors as the best represented class at the 2012 Homecoming Reception. Following the reception, the three classes enjoyed an intimate dinner in historic downtown Alton with their respective classmates.
The SIU SDM Homecoming Reception saw over 75 guests. Including the anniversary class years, 24 different class years were represented at the event.

Class of 2011 alumna, Drs. Travis Schwarz, Craig Irvine, Clint Boyle, and Kenneth Scroggins, enjoyed a round at 2012 Prophy Cup Challenge Golf Tournament. |
On May 4, 2012, we hosted the 17th Annual Mac McKenzie Prophy Cup Challenge Golf Tournament. Once again, the annual SIU SDM golf tournament was successful on several levels. Participation was strong and the event helped the School of Dental Medicine raise additional funding to support faculty recruitment and retention efforts. The golf tournament continues to be one of the School’s best attended events, and we always see a good mix of alumni, students, faculty, and friends.
Proceeds from the golf tournament support the Mac McKenzie Prophy Cup Challenge Faculty Recruitment and Retention Endowment and Development Funds, which allow the SIU dental school to continue to offer our dental students excellence in dental education by providing the resources necessary to recruit and retain outstanding faculty members. The golf tournament is traditionally held at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course, an Arnold Palmer designed and managed facility, one of the finest golf courses in the Midwest.
The Mac McKenzie Prophy Cup Challenge is scheduled each year on the first Friday of May, which will be on May 3rd in 2013.
