Historically, students from the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine score high nationally on the National Board Dental Exams, Parts I and II. Passing the exams is a requirement for licensure in the United States and is a strong indicator of student preparedness to practice dentistry. Students graduate with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree as some of the best general practitioners of dentistry in the country.
Additionally, graduates are offered several post graduate opportunities, including an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program and an Implant Fellowship program. Graduates also enjoy the opportunity to continue their dental education in graduate Endodontics and Periodontics through participation in cooperative programs between the SIU School of Dental Medicine and the Saint Louis University Graduate School.
