Advanced Education in General Dentistry

The School of Dental Medicine offers a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program. AEGD residents gain advanced training in all of the different disciplines of dentistry, including the rapidly changing field of Implant Dentistry.

Fellowship in Implant Dentistry

The School of Dental Medicine Implant Program offers a one-year fellowship (July 1 to June 30) in a clinically oriented program in which fellows will perform all phases of implant dentistry. The responsibilities of the fellow will include but shall not be limited to:

  • Performance of advanced patient care in implant dentistry and related clinical disciplines under the supervision of the faculty of the implant program.
  • Clinical supervision of implant procedures performed by AEGD graduate students and undergraduate students.
  • Organization and facilitation of journal reviews and seminars in implant dentistry.
  • Participation in clinical and/or laboratory research in implant dentistry leading to publication and/or presentation.
  • Participation in didactic and preclinical laboratory education in implant dentistry for undergraduate students.

St. Louis University Endodontic Residency Program

St. Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education, in cooperation with the SIU School of Dental Medicine, offers a two year residency program in the specialty of endodontics. The program offers a master in science in dentistry. This program is under the supervision of the dean of the Graduate School at St. Louis University, with the majority of the clinical program being conducted at the SIU School of Dental Medicine.

The program offers clinical and didactic training on the graduate level in the specialty of Endodontics. The program is 24 months in duration and begins July 1 each year. This program is fully accredited by the Advanced Specialty Education Programs in Endodontics, Commission on Dental Accreditation. Graduates are educationally qualified for certification by the American Board of Endodontics.

St. Louis University Periodontics Residency Program

St. Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education, in cooperation with the SIU School of Dental Medicine, offers a three-year residency program in the specialty of periodontics. The program offers a master of science in dentistry degree. This program is offered under the academic supervision of the dean of the Graduate School at St. Louis University, with the majority of the clinical program being conducted at the SIU School of Dental Medicine.

The program offers clinical and didactic training on the graduate level in the specialty of periodontics. The program is 36 months in duration and starts July 1 each year. This program is fully accredited. Following completion of the program, graduates will be educationally qualified for certification by the American Board of Periodontology.
