Cultural Landscapes Collaboratory

Classroom Map and Writing:

My students and I created a community-based investigation: we learned to see how our classroom is a culture, studied it, and then created a map with stories to share with our second grade partners in California.
Students learned to see that they have 'insider knowledge' as community members, learned the many ways to represent experiences through mapmaking, wrote about special places that make up our classroom and made a digital story-telling map for you to use.
Contact me, Amanda Matthiesen if you want to share your own stories from the classroom.
