Justin
Allen

Justin, is Group Fitness Certified and Spinning© Certified and instructs for both types of classes. Justin earned both his Bachelor's in Psychology & Philosophy and M.S.Ed in Kinesiology right here at SIUE and comes to us with a military (USMC), cycling, and triathlon background. He enjoys the challenge of putting together music and workouts. He is currently a busy dad as his son will be 1 in January. Justin’s favorite food is pasta.

Felice, a certified Yoga Instructor, is currently teaching Power Yoga. Felice loves sharing Yoga with others. “it has impacted my life in such wonderful ways and I love to share the benefits with others.” When Felice is not teaching she spends the day with her 1 year old son who keeps her very busy! Felice’s favorite food is ice cream.

Juan Barron

Juan is a veteran of the United States Air Force who took our in house group fitness certification course in Fall 2013. He is currently one of our boot camp instructors and is ready to make you sweat! He enjoys watching his participant’s progress and improve with every class. Juan lives by the motto “through pain comes strength.” Juan enjoys meeting new people through group exercise. His favorite food is chicken and dumplings.

Paula is a certified AFFA Primary Group Fitness Instructor. She is also a certified SPIN® instructor. She has been teaching at SIUe for 7 years. Paula enjoys watching participants see results from exercising and seeing them get excited about working out!

Fitness Instructor Kristie Chase

Kirstie Chase is studying exercise science with a health education minor. She completed the SIUE ACE in house training program in the Fall of 2012 and is currently NETA Group Fitness and YogaFit certified. Kristie really enjoys the atmosphere of group fitness as well as challenging her body in different classes to become a stronger person. She became involved with group fitness by taking a lot of different classes at SIUE. She is super into photography and her favorite quote is "you are your own limitation."

Sui Chen is a graduate student who completed the SIUE ACE in house training program in the Fall of 2012. Siu really enjoys sharing his knowledge with people who are enthusiastic about his same interests. He became interested in group fitness because he wanted a way to release his energy! A little fun fact about Sui is that he can speak a mix of British and Australian English with a Chinese accent. His favorite quote is "rainbows come after heavy thunderstorms."

Mike is currently certified through AFAA and Spinning.  He loves meeting new people and watching them improve their fitness levels.  His favorite class to teach is bootcamp because of the variety and space to use!

Alexandria Dovgin

Alexandra completed the SIUe In-House Certification Program in Fall of 2013. She is currently a  HIIT instructor for us but hopes to eventually expand her expertise to other group fitness classes in the future. Alexandrs transferred to SIUe from Moraine Valley Community College, where she ran cross country for 2 years. She was an individual qualifier for the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships in 2010 and 2011. She loves group fitness because it's a lot of fun and she love to meet the participants and work out together every week. Her favorite quote is, "I do not regret the things I've done, but those I did not do." (Empire Records, 1995)

Edo, a Rock Hard ABS instructor, completed our in house group fitness instructor training course in Fall 2014. Edo’s favorite part about teaching is helping people achieve their goals and seeing his participants be active. Edo wanted to become a group fitness instructor because it had always been a passion of his. Edo’s favorite quote is, “when you are at your lowest, you can do two things: come back up or start shoveling.” Edo is also 100% Italian and enjoys REAL Italian pizza!

Sarai completed our in house group fitness instructor training course in Fall 2014. She has also received her ZUMBA® Certification. Sarai became a fitness instructor because she wanted to share with others the love she has for health and fitness. Zumba has always been a passion of hers. Since she was little she loved dance. HIIT is a workout that makes Sarai feel mentally and physically strong and as a teacher she enjoys helping others feel that same strength. Sarai’s favorite song is Hall of Fame and favorite food is Oreos with milk! A cool fact about Sarai is that she lost 25 pounds my sophomore year of college with hard work and dedication!

Krystal Giltner

Krystal, a new instructor to SIUE, is SPINNING® certified. She began teaching group fitness because she enjoys exercise and competition and wanted to share her passion with others. Krystal is an avid runner and triathlete. She has qualified in her age group and competed in the Boston Marathon in 2011 and the Las Vegas Ironman World Championship 70.3 in 2012. Her favorite motivational quote is what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and her favorite food is pizza!

Denise Green

Denise holds many certifications including PiYo™, TurboKick™, Insanity®, Kickboxing, R.I.P.P.E.D. and AFAA Primary Group Exercise. She is currently teaching PiYo™, Zumba®, Insanity® and Rock Hard ABS. Her favorite thing about teaching is being able to influence people’s health and confidence. Denise is currently working towards earning her second Master’s degree and loves Mexican food!

Nikki Harris

Nikki, certified in ZUMBA®, loves connecting with her participants and getting to know everyone who walks into the room. She really enjoys meeting new people and seeing new faces in her classes. Nikki has met a ton of British actors including Daniel Radcliffe (AKA Harry Potter)! Nikki also loves cheese burgers.

Falon is a Belly Dancing Instructor and has been teaching at SIUe for 5 years. She is currently the Director of Desert Moon Dance Academy East in Edwardsville, IL and has dance training in ballet, tap, modern and African with the Katherine Dunham technique. Falon enjoys meeting new student each semester and loves that she not only teaches movements, but also the history behind the movements!

Nicole Kiel is new to the group fitness team. She is Spinning Certified and will push you to the max in her workouts. Nicole is working as a nurse in the ICU and she is celebrating the pregnancy of her second child. Nicole loves getting to meet new people and help them reach their fitness goals.

Jade completed our in house group fitness instructor training course in Fall 2014 and teaches HITT. Her favorite part about teaching is motivating others and sharing her passion for exercise in a fun and exciting way. Jade is PADI Certified and loves to scuba dive! Her favorite food is a classic: Kraft Macaroni and Cheese!

Lexi, a certified TurboKick™ Instructor is also in house certified. Lexi’s favorite part about teaching is getting to see familiar faces each week and watching her participants improve. She also values building friendships and relationships with her participants. Lexi loves to travel. In addition, her favorite food is….well…everything!

Courtney Page is an undergraduate student studying Speech-Language Pathology. She completed the SIUE ACE in house training program in the Fall of 2012 and is currently Zumba and NETA Group Fitness certified. One thing she loves about group fitness having a positive attitude and motivating others, while having others motivate her in return through the workout! Courtney first became involved with group fitness by attending a lot of group fitness classes when she was a freshman at SIUE. She fell in love with the atmosphere and relationships she developed in class. This passion led her to take the leap and become an instructor herself. Courtney is an avid runner and has completed 6 half marathons! Her favorite food is anything sweet!

Karen has been teaching Yoga at SIUE since the Spring of 2013.  She loves the yoga studio and participants at SIUE.  Since she began at SIUE, she has learned a lot and looks forward to learning more.  She also teaches kids yoga!

Fitness Instructor Ryan Rosiak

Ryan is a true group fitness advocate. Ryan began attending Group Fitness classes two years ago and along with his hard work ethic, he has managed to lose 200 pounds and maintained his weight loss. Ryan graduated spring 2014 with his bachelors in accounting and will continue to stay on our group fitness team as long as he is in the area. His future plans are to become a public accountant and teach cycle for the rest of his life! Ryan loves the competitive atmosphere group fitness provides and also likes that it is always fresh, exciting and fun.

Alie completed the SIUe in-house group fitness instructor certification in spring 2009 and is also SPINNING® certified, Pi-Yo™ certified and has her AFAA Primary Group Fitness certified. She loves being able to help others to get motivated and live an active lifestyle! Alie is currently teaching and coaching.

Kiana is a sophomore pre-nursing student that has a love for shaking it! She fell in love with Zumba and set out become an instructor, she became a certified Zumba instructor in spring 2012. She loves to share her passion for dance and loves the energy of her group fitness participants. In the future Kiana would like to pursue a career in neonatal nursing and continue her enthusiasm for not only dance but also baking!

Fitness Instructor Judi Underhill

We are proud to introduce Judi Underhill to the Cougar Fitness team. Judi's very first yoga class was taught by her "daughter"! It was through her inspiration that Judi developed her practice with Leslie Boyce, CYT, E-RYT and Janet Snyder, CYT of Many Hearts Yoga in St. Louis, Missouri and completed her 200 hour Teacher Training Certification in 2010. Judi says "Yoga has changed my life. I want to share the joy and incredible physical and mental benefit it has brought me." Fun fact about Judi is that she and her husband have recently bought a sailboat and plan to circumnavigate the Caribbean while experiencing different styles of yoga!

Kim has been teaching at SIUe for over 11 years. In the past she has taught Hi/Lo Cardio, Kickboxing, Body Sculpting and Step it UP. Kim loves getting participants excited about the classes while also getting a great workout.

Mark currently teaches HITT and Cycle. He completed our in house group fitness instructor training course in Fall 2014. Mark’s favorite part about teaching is being able to see everyone motivated and working hard to be healthy. He believes there is nothing better than a class of people who are putting in 100%! Mark also races pro dirt bikes as his main job in Supercross all over the country. His favorite food is pasta!
