This Month's Employee of the Month

Shane is a Criminal Justice major, in his third semester of work here in Campus Recreation. He has challenged himself to train and serve across multiple areas. He works as a Reception Desk Attendant, Fitness Attendant, Preventative Maintenance and is a Facility Supervisor.

Career Objective:
“Return Gotham to its former glory.” (In all seriousness) Shane wants to start out as a police officer, gain some experience and then eventually work toward becoming a FBI agent.

Shane enjoys participating in Intramural football, soccer, bubble soccer, softball and basketball. When he is not playing Intramural Sports, he also enjoys “advanced bird watching, intermediate bee keeping, novice spelunking and watching paint dry.”

Supervisor’s Note:
One of Shane’s supervisors reports that, “Shane is passionate about serving all customers of the Student Fitness Center and does an outstanding job preserving justice. It is quite fitting that Chuck Norris is Shane’s idol.”

From The Source:
All jokes aside, Shane had this to say about his job at SIUE Campus Recreation. “I love working at the REC. In fact, this never feels like work. We aren’t just co-workers, we’re a tight knit group of friends, closer to a family.”

“He was really knowledgeable for personal fitness questions.”
“He is so caring; and very, very encouraging!”
