
Are you looking for lessons that you coordinate and fits exactly into your schedule? Then private lessons are a possible option. These lessons are arranged between yourself and an instructor based on your schedule and availability. They are offered to all students, faculty, staff and SFC members, and are a great option for those looking for individualized instruction. We will match you with an instructor that can help you achieve your goals, as well as fit into your schedule. Each session is 30 minutes, and the pricing is listed below. To start your journey towards private instruction, stop by the SFC Front Desk and ask for a Swim Instructor Request form.

Dive-in Movie
Twice a year (once in Fall semester, once in Spring) Campus Rec offers a film shown in the Vadalabene Center Indoor Pool. These films are always family friendly and everyone has a great time. The next Dive-In movie will be Friday, February 17th and will be showing The Muppets.

Swim Lessons at the Indoor Pool
Saturday Youth Swim Lesson – Session II
Saturdays from March 17th to April 28th
Fee: Children of: SIUE Students $20* Faculty/Staff/SFC Members $30
Register at the Student Fitness Center Front Desk between Feb. 20th - Mar. 14th
No class on 4/7 due to Easter Holiday. This class is designed for ages 4+. Pre-School Levels 1-3 and Learn to Swim Levels 1-4 available. Please note that there will be classes at 10am and 11am. Your child (children) could be placed in either class time depending on their skill level. This is to ensure the best environment for your child to improve their swimming skills. When signing up, please make sure to put what level your child should be in. If your child was a ‘participant’ of a certain level this summer or fall, they should continue in that level until completing it. We will have level descriptions at the front desk when you sign-up.
Classes Descriptions - Pre-K:
Preschool
Level 1: Most basic elementary aquatic skills. Good attitudes and safe practices around the water are emphasized.
Level 2: Build upon level 1. Independent locomotion skills are started. Simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on front and back are explored.
Level 3: Skills are performed independently. Coordination of arm and leg actions in both simultaneous and alternating movements is improved.Classes Descriptions - School Aged:
Learn To Swim
Level 1: Basic elementary aquatic skills. Being comfortable and enjoying the water are emphasized. Good swimming habits are learned.
Level 2: Beginning of true locomotion skills. Fundamental skills are practiced. Coordination of arm and leg actions in both simultaneous and alternating movements is developed.
Level 3: Builds on previously learned skills. Most strokes, or stroke components, are introduced, as well as most water entries.
Level 4: Develops confidence in strokes learned so far, and all strokes are introduced, as well as flip turns.
Level 5: All strokes are refined and distances increased. Flip turns on both the front and back are developed.
Level 6: Fitness Swimming, Personal Water Safety Skills & Fundamentals of Diving - Participants at this level may choose which of these three areas they would like to pursue.
