Hours of Operation

Cougar Lake Pool is closed for the season. We will re-open again on May 28, 2010.

Membership applications are available and must be completed at the Reception Desk of the Student Fitness Center. Family is defined as the spouse and children of the approved facility user. Proof of SIUE affiliation as well as the Social Security numbers of all potential members will be required at the time of purchase. Payments can be made by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.

Immediate Family of Faculty/Staff: Same as Immediate Family of Alumni.

The Cougar Lake Pool may be reserved for private functions and groups of 2 to 100 people during non-operation hours in Summer Semesters. Reservations must be made in person at the Student Fitness Center. The cost is $40.00 per hour for up to 25 guests. The fee is increased by $12.00 per hour for each additional 25 people or part thereof. For questions regarding pool rental, please call the Reception Desk at 618-650-2348.

Family Night

Monday is Family Night at the Outdoor Pool from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Students, Faculty, Staff and Alumni are permitted to bring their immediate family to the pool and use the facility at no charge. Family is defined as the spouse and children of the approved facility user.

Child Supervision & Baby Sitter Policy

All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Members of Cougar Lake Pool can bring no more than 2 guests with them per day.

Babysitter Memberships may be added to a family membership for use by a babysitter 16 years of age and above.  A babysitter is only entitled to enter the pool using a parent's membership card while the children of the sponsoring family are present with them.

Parking

Parking for the Cougar Lake Recreation Area and Outdoor Pool is limited to the Lot 10. Individuals requiring special needs for parking should call 650-BFIT (2348). All individuals will be required to have a parking hangtag in their vehicle to park in this parking lot. Vehicles that do not have a Cougar Lake Recreation Area parking hangtag displayed in their vehicle will receive a parking ticket. Hang tags are available for $20.00 to Outdoor Pool members and may be picked up at the Reception Desk of the Student Fitness Center with the purchase of an Outdoor Pool membership. Each family is allowed up to two (2) hangtags. Daily parking tags may be purchased from the shuttle driver for $2.  Further information regarding SIUE Parking Policies may be obtained from the university's Parking Services Website.

Life Jackets and PFD's

Only USCG approved personal floatation devices (PFD's) are permitted at Cougar Lake Pool. Parents must remain within arms length of a child wearing a PFD. Please check with Cougar Lake Pool staff if you are unsure your PFD is acceptable.  Inflatable "water wings" are not an acceptable form of floatation device and are not permitted at Cougar Lake Pool. 

Sustainability @ Cougar Lake Pool
Cougar Lake Pool is no longer using Styrofoam products.  Reusable plastic bottles will be available for $2.
