Adult Lessons Schedule - Session 2
Do you want to boost your swimming ability? Let us help you. We offer three levels of adult classes: beginner, intermediate and stroke development. The description for each of these levels is as follows:
Beginner
Participants are introduced to the water and basic swim skills. The overall goal is to have the participants feel more comfortable and enjoy being in the water.
Student fee: $40
Other participants: $65Session two lessons will start the week of March 15 and continue through April 30. The schedule for this session is listed below. Again, the classes will meet once a week for seven weeks and registration will continue through the end of the first week of classes. Participants must be 16 years of age or older.

Private Swim Lessons
Are you looking for lessons that you coordinate and fits exactly into your schedule? Then private lessons are a possible option. These lessons are arranged between yourself and an instructor based on your schedule and availability. They are offered to all students, faculty, staff and SFC members, and are a great option for those looking for individualized instruction. We will match you with an instructor that can help you achieve your goals, as well as fit into your schedule. Each session is 30 minutes, and the pricing is listed below. To start your journey towards private instruction, stop by the SFC Front Desk and ask for a Swim Instructor Request form.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course

The course will teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The content and activities of the class will prepare participants to recognize, as well as respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, and prevent drownings and injuries. Course will certify participants as an American Red Cross Lifeguard which includes certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer/Automated External Defibrillation and First Aid.
Prerequisites:
Minimum age 15, on or before the final scheduled session of this course
Swim 300 yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order:
a. 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and stabilizing, propellant kick.
b. 100 yards breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence.
c. 100 yards of either the front crawl or breaststroke or a combination of both
All 300 yards must use using rhythmic breathing with face in the water and stabilizing, propellant kick. There is no time requirement for the above skill.
Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a minimum depth of 7 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, swim back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds. When returning to the starting point, you must hold the 10 pound object with both hands and keep your face above the water.
Participants must attend all class times, demonstrate competency in all required skills, activities and final scenarios, and correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions in three sections of the final written exam in order to receive course certifications.

Participants will receive Lifeguarding Certifications, including CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED and First Aid, by demonstrating competency in the specific knowledge necessary to pass a written test and demonstrate all lifeguarding skills, water and land. All responsibility for preparedness rests solely on the participant.
Prerequisites:
Minimum age 15.
Proof of current lifeguard certification by a nationally recognized lifeguarding program or certification that has expired less than one year ago.
Correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions on each of the three written examinations.
Swim 300 yards continuously, using these strokes in the following order:

CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED Training - NO CLASSES SCHEDULED AT THIS TIME
Course Details: Newly revised according to Guidelines 2005. Geared to the professional rescuer, this course covers two-rescuer CPR, use of a resuscitation mask, use of a bag valve mask, use of an AED, and a review of fundamental adult, infant and child CPR skills. Students can earn a CPR/PR/AED certificate valid for one year. NOTE: This course is the equivalent of the BLS Healthcare Provider of the American Heart Association.

H2O Challenge - Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:00 to 5:45 pm, SFC Indoor Pool
Bring your cardio workout to the water without adding impact to your joints. Water Aerobic exercises use a mix of shallow and deep end water movements to get your heart pumping. This class is sure to enhance your muscular strength and toning by applying the resistant forces of water to your workout. Pre-registration and a $5 fee for students and a $10 fee for faculty/staff/SFC members is required.
H20 Boot Camp - Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00 to 5:45 pm, SFC Indoor Pool
We’re taking Boot Camp and adding some water! This class will help you achieve your next fitness level by “maneuvering” you through various “drills” that will increase your cardio and muscle strength, as well as your endurance. Push yourself to the limit and see what this class is all about. Pre-registration and a $5 fee for students and a $10 fee for faculty/staff/SFC members is required.
