Dedicated to providing spiritual, emotional, and physical care, the Center for Spirituality & Sustainability serves the entire SIUE community, regardless of individual spiritual beliefs. World-renowned architect, philosopher and teacher, R. Buckminster Fuller, designed the SIUE Center for Spirituality & Sustainability in 1971. Fuller, a former member of the SIUE faculty, created the Center as a transparent replica of planet Earth.
The Center for Spirituality & Sustainability serves SIUE students through prayer and worship, spiritual discussions, volunteer service, student organizations, and individual counseling. The Center for Spirituality & Sustainability also serves the public and is available to people of all faiths for:

- Worship services
- Religious education events
- Discussions and fellowship gatherings
- Day retreats
