How many guests can graduates invite to the commencement ceremony?
Graduates may invite up to six guests to the ceremony.

Are Tickets Required?
At this time, tickets are not required. However, Vadalabene Center capacity is limited, thus, we ask students to limit the number of guests to six. Please note, once the Vadalabene Center is full, guests will be directed to the overflow viewing room where the ceremony will be simulcast.

Is there a difference between Graduation and Commencement?
Yes. Commencement is the ceremony that brings students, faculty and family together to celebrate your graduation. At Commencement, you will receive a diploma cover. Graduation is final confirmation that you have completed all degree requirements. Your diploma will be sent to you after the end of the term once the Office of the Registrar has confirmed that you have completed all degree requirements. The diploma will be mailed to the mailing address on file with SIUE. Check CougarNet to confirm your mailing address to prevent delays.

What do I need to do to participate in the Fall 2011 Commencement ceremony?

Apply for Graduation by August 22, 2011
Meet graduation eligibility requirements. Participation in a Commencement ceremony does not guarantee that your degree requirements have been completed.
Confirm your participation in the Commencement ceremony by completing the Commencement Ceremony Participation Form/Cap and Gown Pre-order form as soon as possible. Last day to submit the form and pay for your cap and gown is December 1, 2011.
If you are not purchasing your cap and gown for the December ceremony, but instead already own the approved cap and gown or plan to borrow from a fellow student, you are still required to let us know of your plans. The regalia must be University-approved.
First day to pick up your pre-ordered cap and gown in the University Bookstore is October 26, 2011. We recommend you pick up your regalia sooner rather than later!
